  Well there are a number of reasons.
  Firstly, I think as scientists we have a social responsibility to work in a way that doesn’t damage the environment. Also, we shouldn’t make the world worse for future generations to come.
  Secondly, as fossil fuels are running out (and loads of things currently come from fossils fuels (medicines, clothes, plastics etc.)) when they run out, we will want to still have all the modern technologies we have now. If we don’t do things in a more friendly way we won’t be able to do them for much longer.
  So, in summary, it’s interesting and I think is a good thing to do!
