Pretty soon, I’m afraid. In another 20 years, we can be in serious problems.
There have been reports of multi-resistant bacteria to last resort antibiotics. The World Health Organization (WHO) classified antimicrobial resistance as a major threat to the modern world.
You can read: “A post-antibiotic era – in which common infections and minor injuries can kill – far from being an apocalyptic fantasy, is instead a very real possibility for the 21st Century.”

It is pretty scary to think about, but I try and remember that people (as a species) survived without antibiotics for millions of years hopefully we will again!

Unless we discover a new source of antibiotics, I think it will be by 2050. Hopefully by then an alternative, like phage therapy, will be fully developed.

Not too far away. We need to do what we can to stop the increase in antibiotic resistance but realistically we need to find some alternative treatments…and pretty quickly!
