My favourite area of science is microbiology this is the science that studies microbes. The is because the diversity of living forms among microbes is greater than the diversity of all animal and plant species in the whole world. Among this diversity you can find really call stuff like bacteria capable of living into toxic water at 100 C of temperature, bacteria capable of living in water with high concentrations of salts where no fish can live, bacteria that don’t breath oxygen and even bacteria that can survive in the outer space. I could continue like this forever and I haven’t mentioned the viruses or protozoa. That’s why I love microbes, because they are so special and diverse that you could spend your whole live studying the life into a puddle and be incapable to finish.
I really like neuroscience, which is the field that studies the brain.
I have no training/never took classes on it, but I read a lot of books about it and I think it’s just amazing how little we know about how our brain works. How we make memories and where do we store them, how do we regain consciousness everyday when we wake up, how do we recognise ourselves when you see “you” in a picture/mirror, how do we interpret colours, how do we make sense of shades, …
The brain is so beautifully complex that the more you think about it, the more confusing it gets!
Hi 985antf23!
I’m all about the chemistry. The best thing is doing reactions in the lab and watching to see what happens. Sometimes it all works well and sometimes it doesn’t but that’s how research is. It keeps things interesting 🙂
