        In some diseases, like leukemia there is a big production of these “superheroes” (the leukocytes) and they are not functional. The word leukemia comes from the Greek words “leukos” that means white and “haima” that later became “hemia” that means blood. Then leukemia means “white blood”. This is a type of cancer caused by an excess of white cells in the blood.
