I didn’t really decide to leave there. The company decided to close it’s chemistry department down as it felt it could outsource it’s chemistry to other companies (called CRO’s Contract Research Organisations) and it would be cheaper. Often companies in other parts of the world will be able to provide their services for less money because their employees get paid less money and the workers don’t have as many rights.

I enjoyed working at a small company after having worked at larger organisations. You learn really quickly how to fix equipment and work in an environment where you don’t have much money to spend.
