In our organism, important information is transmitted from one cell to another and also within an individual cell. This information is conveyed through different type of elements including proteins that are connected to each other like the runners are connected in a relay race. Each element is involved in the transmission and amplification of the information (signal). Some of these elements are proteins that are in the middle of the transmission chain and they are called RELAY PROTEINS.

Relay proteins can control different processes in the cell including the cell cycle. So they can control when the cell will start dividing and when it will stop.
